Meghan has shared her own struggles with suicidal ideation. Despite being ridiculed, dismissed, and attacked for her mental health struggles, Meghan continues to use her platform to raise awareness about our mental health crisis, and ask questions like
"So for us it's just, what is the solution? What can we do behind the scenes? What do we continue to do behind the scenes? How can we work with professionals and experts to really figure out—in knowing this is not going away—how do we make it safer, better, more positive?
The expert they brought to their panel was Vivek Murthy, the U.S. Surgeon General, who stated the following facts:
“The word ‘crisis’ gets applied to so many things today—but when you have nearly 3/4 of young people saying that they're struggling with loneliness, when you have a 57% increase in the suicide rate in the 10 years preceding the pandemic, when 1 in 3 high school girls are saying that they’re seriously considering taking their own life—then that is a crisis.”
“I think that the true measure of a society is how well it takes care of and protects its young people, and by that measure, we have a lot of work to do—to do right by kids and to do right by their parents.”
